Everybody loves Raymond Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Ein truthbody loves jibemond - Essay ExampleRays pargonnts Marie and Frank, be also part of this equation as they regularly disturb the couples in midst of this dilemma to cause havoc and chaos. In one episode, Ray asked Debra of he could allocate his funds in a go-kart cut of meat in which she said no. He goes and invests his money anyways without her approval. He eventually tells her, which makes her angry. As a result, he was forced to sleep downstairs in the sofa. These are problems that undoubtedly are prevalent in most American societies. The family dynamic in Everybody loves Raymond tries to imitate the typical American life during the 1900s. Ray is the sole provider for his family as he is the bread winner. Consequently, his wife, follows the cult of domesticity as she cooks, cleans and takes care of the kids. This model illustrates the core American family values that existed within that time frame. The typical day in Rays family consists of him doing something extremely silly. One of the most intriguing and a mishap stereotypes is the fact that something silly always happen. Ray will do something silly, which does non often occur in an American family system. Another major flaw is the fact that they live this almost perfect ideal life in which no big crisis occurs. Evidently, that does not hold true. In an American family, the husband or wife may cheat. ... The cultural values portrayed in this show are biased towards a traditional system. It does not depict the reality of the current American values in which both the husband and wife work. I would get a line this family as a family that is always jolly and far from traditional. A more realistic approach is presented in 7th heaven show. The depiction of the family problems from my perspective, are very one-dimensional. Consequently, in 7th heaven, shows a more realistic view of a modern American family in which the son runs away or gets his girlfriend pregnant. Everybody loves Raymond is more c onservative in that aspect that it only shows the ideal stereotypes of family that everyone possesses. Another key flaw in this television show is the fact that Ray is completely apathetic in his kids. While Deb and Ray are the focal point in the show, the kids are present to supplement the comedy that is prevalent in show. Ray tends to ignore his children for the majority of time and occasionally will glare at them to prove a certain point. Ray also wants to dominate his personality as a dad to prove masculinity so he can embed fear and make himself look better. Clearly, most couples that have kids are lean to pay attention to their kids in a conventional model. From a modern perspective, I disagree with the family unit that is presented. The audience that is in Everybody loves Raymond was aimed for more baby boomers and not for the modern audience. In the modern world, the family unit is more complicated and vast. The dynamic family values that were presented and have drasticall y evolved. To certain extent, I think the family model is consistent compared to other TV channels.

Most companies have perceived this problem, realizing that manpower or more specifically the employees themselves are their salubrious-nigh important resource. Employers also have realized that like any otherwise resource, manpower should be continually replenished or re new-fangleded in terms of loyalty, trust and overall satisfaction from the work they are currently employed in. There are several theo ries and methods of employee motivation discussed herein, as well as recommendations on how to implement employee motivation methods and improvement of the said system if it is already implemented in the workplace. Employer and employee relationships A very fine line exists between the employer(s) and the employee. One thing for certain is that the employer is the employees superior and the employee must comply with the work that his or her employer demands. With this, it can be thought of that the employee is parachute to the service of his or her employer within the contract that they have agreed between themselves. This is not unlike the relationship between master and slave of yesteryears, in which the slave is not just bound to its masters service but also treated as that persons property. Times have changed and so do employee rights. Treating employees like slaves would not do an employer any good, and this has been shown with the creation of employee rights and privileges lay down upon each countrys constitution. One of the basic tenets of this is the provision of salaries to the employee by their employer according to the existing minimum wage rates. Other benefits such as health benefits, bonuses and other financial and non-financial perks may or may not be given again depending on the agreement set upon between the emplo

Political Parties and Elections Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Political Parties and Elections - Essay ExampleIn other circumstances, parties might choose to course of study coalitions with disparate interests. It has to be acknowledged that parties in the United States argon very powerful for they determine the fate of all citizens1. Ambition in Political Parties Politicians be very ambitious people. Although some choose to stay in their current offices for several terms, others aspire to go to higher offices. In addition, some politicians want to be politics for short periods. This implies that it depends with the politician to know his or her ambitions. Career ambition decides the behavior to be exhibited by the politician. His/her hopes and expectations for the future are the main driving gouge that jockstraps the politician in making decisions. Majority of political leaders possess progressive ambitions and as a result, they aspire for higher offices. Politicians make policies that satisfy the require of their constituents at the given time and in future, in order to ensure success. It has to be noned that one cannot achieve higher office if s/he lacks ambition2. Although majority of Americans believe that the hot seat is a powerful person who makes all the decisions for the country from white house, Richard Neustadt in his book Presidential Power and the Modern Presidents, believes otherwise. The presidents power is guaranteed in the constitution, the prestige of Washington, abroad, and the country at large. However, article II of the constitution, which defines the powers of the president, does not guarantee that everything that he (presidents) commands he achieves. This means that the president moldiness always ensure that the people around him are persuaded and thus willing to do what he believes is good for the country. The fact that United States of America is a representative country means that there is separation of powers so the president is not the sole decision maker in the country. The ability and the power to pursued help in ensuring that the policies implemented by the president are able to pass and become law. This can be attri neverthelessed to the fact that the president in the US does not change legislation alone for it needs approval by the respective houses. If the president is unable to persuade legislators to pass his policies then chances are high that close to of these policies will not go through. This is the reason why Neustadt (1990) notes, presidency is not a place for amateurs. Presidents should act in a prospective manner in order to make sure that the decisions he makes today will help him persuade tomorrow3. Power of Politics Obama exercises the power to persuade because he understands that his policies cannot pass without the donjon other legislators.4On the other hand, Schlesinger acknowledges that the US presidency is becoming too powerful, such that people are not concerned on checking it. He attributes this to the powers that the presidency exercise s because of domesticated policy, foreign policy, and the affairs that go on in secrecy. Since the president is the commander in chief of the armed forces, he has the authority to defend the United States but the power of declaring war is vested on the congress. This means that the president can make decisions that will cause death or injury to other people who are deemed as a threat to the country5. In his time at the office, Obama has coherent the killing of Somali pirates who had hijacked a ship with American crew. In addition, he ordered

Project Management for Construction Assignment

Project Management for Construction - Assignment ExampleAs per my observations, I study proposed a number of actions that could be taken by the gild in the near future. The findings of my analysis are explained one by one. The nominate as per contract No.205 is for a total sum of 10,000,000 and has been prepared under the JCT 98 format. Initially, the company had calculated the internal budget for the project and had projected it at 9,500,000, out of which 750,000 was allocated for package contracts. the project is still ongoing and has been facing some problems of late, which will be discussed in the forthcoming paragraphs. From the existing financial records, the total cost of the project incurred by the company has so far been close to 6,750,000, out of which 6,200,000 was spent on paying the package contractors and suppliers. However, the amount that has been obtained from the client since the commencement of the project has been to the tune of only 5,850,000, which way that th e company has spent an extra amount of 900,000 on this project. In detail, it can be seen that the spending of the company has been more directed towards the package contracts and has in fact been more than the income that has been obtained from this project so far. This suggests that the company has not been efficient enough in monitoring the deficit, which has resulted in an extra investment of nearly a billion pounds into the project that is yet to be cleared by the client.Apart from this, I have calculated the ... Apart from this, I have calculated the retention symmetry at 10%, which is usually deemed quite less, especially for bigger projects such as these. At present, the company owes around 300,000 to the package contractors, out of which around 100,000 meant for a contractor has become insolvent. This leaves the existing delinquents to the package contractors at 200,000. I would like to note here that the situation on the part of the client has not been boost in terms of their financial performance during the past year. The shares of Rus Ting plc have not been performing well and their value has dropped by as much as half of their value. The poor performance of the client can be further reflected by the fact that they are yet to pay their certified installment due last month. To make matters worse, bad weather over the past few months has been constantly hampering the smooth flow of work at the construction site. The major solicitude of the company at the present moment is with regards to the time of completion of the project. By taking various factors into account, it has been estimated that the project would be completed three weeks behind schedule. low such a situation, the company would have to pay up to 90,000 under Liquidated and ascertained damages to the client. Thus, it can be seen that apart from the outstanding costs that have been incurred by the company, another danger still looms large if no immediate steps are taken to bring abou t a change in the companys strategy and practices.Apart from these problems that the project is facing at the moment, there have been various other problems that have been hampering the progress of the project from time to time.

Capital Budgeting Techniques Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Capital Budgeting Techniques - Research Paper ExampleThe purpose of this paper is to describe these techniques and to compare and contrast the pros and cons associated with each of these quaternion capital budgeting techniques. The payback period is used to quantify the expected number of years required to recover the original enthronisation made on a project based on the cash feeds that the project generates over its lifetime. The main advantage of this capital budgeting technique is its simplicity. The way to calculate payback period is by adding up the expected cash flows for each year until the original investment of the project is recovered. The basic logic of the method is that it is better to recover the original investment sooner than later. A disadvantage of the payback period method is that it disregards the time value of money. Another capital budget technique to evaluate projects is the net collapse value or NPV. This method evaluates capital investment projects by fi nding the present value of future net cash flows, discounted at the rate of slip away required by the faithful (Besley, et al. 2000). One of the pros associated with this capital budgeting technique is that it takes into consideration the time value of money. A project is reliable based on this technique if the NPV output is above cero, while projects that have a negative NPV should be rejected. A disadvantage of the NPV method is that it does not measure the interest rates, profitability, and other benefits sex act to the amount invested (Glann, 2009).A third capital budgeting method is the internal rate of return or IRR. The internal rate of return is the rate of return the firm expects to earn if the project is purchased thus it is defined as the discount rate that equates the present value of a projects expected cash flow to the investment outlay, or initial cost (Besley, et al. 2000). A pro of the IRR method is that it takes into consideration the time value of money. A pro ject evaluated based on IRR is accepted if the IRR result is greater

Macro economics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Macro economics - Essay Ex greatIt categorically defined employee and enables the Federal government to enforce acceptable means necessary to promote utilisation for economic stability (McConnell and Brue 214). These statues as well as other directives from the government are factors that shape a countrys fiscal indemnity. Prior to the swell Depression, national government intervention was limited to foreign policy and national defense. Most of fiscal policies are determined in state levels of government who had ample discretion in the approach patternation of their own guidelines. Economists often refer to another important factor in the determination of economic dynamics in the form of political influence as a major factor in the federal budget. When there is unsupervised spending by politicians into particular interests groups then this could antedate to exhaustive government expenditure relative to the tax revenues and leads to federal budget deficits (Boyes and Melvin 248). Staggering budget deficits is a major line of work for any economy that brings instability to the entire system and impedes offset bringing adverse effects to members of a countrys population. There are devil broad categories of fiscal tools as enumerated by McEachern as automatic stabilizers and discretionary. The first are programs that regulate the economy by stabilizing disposable income by means of the real GDP and consumption. The best caseful of an automatic stabilizer is income tax which automatically modifies the disposable income of an individual. The second is a direct manipulation by the government to encourage its macroeconomic objectives including full employment, growth and price stability. They may differ in the length of execution and as to... This paper discusses such important macroeconomic concepts as business cycles, fiscal policy and fiscal tools. The second is a direct manipulation by the government to encourage its macroeconomic objectives including full employment, growth and price stability. The 2009 stimulus invention implemented by President Obama is a good example of a discretionary fiscal tool adopted by the U.S. Government

Management Accounting Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 5

Management Accounting - Essay ExampleThe method emphasizes on the total be incurred and the cost peck sugar of the relationship are not considered. As far as the decision provided by the accountant, it is solely based on absorption costing. It is imperative to argumentation that a major part of the costs of the two reapings are due to fixed overheads and administrative expenses. Moreover, these expenses are incurred even if the production of these two products is dropped. Hence a better costing method has to be adopted to effectively allocate the overheads. The two methods suited for Rothfield Plc are activity based costing and marginal costing. occupation Based Costing ABC is a modern accounting system in which the expenses and overheads are segregated based on the functions of the organisation, which is followed by allocation of the costs to each of the items in respect to the volume of the activity (Kaplan & Anderson, 2007). The use of ABC costing allows the company to accura tely assign the costs for all the activities of each of the product or service (Drury, 2005). Rothfield Plc can allocate the fixed overheads based on the usage of these resources by the various production processes.Marginal Costing or protean Costing Marginal Costing provides a clear explanation of the impact of changes in volume of output on the profits and the changes on the profits. There is withal a clear differentiation between the fixed and variable costs as well. As explained by Dyson (2007), the fixed costs are never aerated to the production and instead the fixed costs are treated as period charges. Hence Rothfield Plc can adopt this method to estimate the potential profits effectively. The total labor hours required to meet the estimated production levels are slightly higher (by 333 hours). Hence, it is evident that some of level of production of either one or some of the products has to be reduced. It is essential that whatever the production combination, the contribution s from the sales are significant

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne and the Holocaust Essay Example for Free

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne and the final solution EssayAuthor John Boyne print his infamous novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. John Boyne was born in Dublin, Ireland. Boyne attended Trinity College in Dublin where he first studied English Literature and then proceeded to the University of East Anglia in Norwich where he then studied creative composing. He began his published writing career in the year two-thousand with his first published book The Thief of Time.Though The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas separates itself from Boynes traditional style of writing by having being written for a younger audience, it was the book that took John Boynes career to the successful point it is now at. Using his buzz offs date of birth as the same for both Shmuel and Bruno, Boyne could further relate the two boys to a familiar story. Demonstrating the truly catastrophic events of the Holocaust in a fictional novel, Boyne captures the torment that two young boys face in a t ime where their innocence is taken away by one of the most evil acts of humanity. The Holocaust ca apply the put ups of six million Jews to be lost, and the confidence of the survivors. The national socialist Germans called this systematic mass killing the final solution to the Jewish question. In cardinalteen-thirty-three, Anti-Semitism reached its peak in Germany destruction, which was launched with torchlight parades and accented by speeches that proclaimed the death of Jewish intellectualism and the purification of German culture. Thus, writings by such Jewish intellectuals as Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud fueled the huge bonfires. Also engulfed in flames was the work of Heinrich Heine, a German poet of Jewish origin. A century earlier Heine had stated, Where books are burned, in the end people will be burned. . his statement would become true, specifically for the European Jews who found themselves below Nazi domination during the Third Reich. (The Holocaust Chronicles 53) By July of nineteen-thirty-three, twenty-five thousand Jews amongst other unfit German citizens had been sent to concentration camps or jail.Democracy in Germany had disappeared under Adolf Hitlers new command with the Nazi Party being the only legal political party. Hitler began a propaganda that the Jew was a bane to the German race, unequal, and inferior, that it must be eliminated in order to restore the place lost during and after the First World War Jewish businesses were boycotted, German citizens began discriminating Jews, physically harming them and humiliating them.Later, German Nazis demanded that all non-Aryan subjects shall retire, any soul who had a Jewish parent or grandparent was non-Aryan. (54) The Jews were then places in ghettos, where the living conditions were poor and a preview of their upcoming fate was shown. Forced to wear Davids spark advance as an embroidered badge on their clothing to symbolize their faith, the Jews were publicly isolated for th e German citizens to see and attack. This wouldve made many of the Jews feel ashamed and directed them to drowse off faith in the God they had previously loved and lived by, as that same faith in the religion was what caused their cruel misfortune. Religion is seen repeatedly in both Night by Elie Wiesel and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne. In Boynes work, the two main characters, Bruno and Shmuel, are two nine year old boys who are unfortunately wrapped up in the horrid events that took place during the years of the Holocaust. Brunos founder is a high be officer working for the S.S during the period of the Nazi Partys ruling in Germany. He doesnt show clear understanding of whats going on and what his father is doing, with help of constant deceit from his parents, his sister and instructor, Bruno still sees no difference betwixt him and Shmuel, who is a Jewish prisoner of a concentration camp. Though there is no difference in the two boys, society, family and religi on tells them otherwise, and yet their friendship is unbreakable. Were non supposed to be friends, you and me.Were supposed to be enemies, did you know that? (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas 118) Having been disciplined by society to believe in a concept of inequality between the pure German race and the Jewish people, the friendship between Bruno and Shmuel becomes a significantly touching plot, not in the sense that it shouldnt or couldnt be, but in a way that demonstrates the innocence that adults tried to deprive from their children, and the loving bond that brings two boys who are meant enemies together, it makes them equal.Religion isnt understood, hatred isnt understood and evil acts are not understood for once, the naive minds of innocence that cannot understand the plot Hitler formed are perfectly right by the resemblance of not understanding their nonexistent differences. Both the real events of World War II and the fictional events within the novel feature a lot of dec eit. Propaganda was used by the governments of every country involved in the war as well as within Germany against the Jews. This form of subtle manipulation was successful as it used citizens issues and headaches to provide an excuse for the events occurring. Hitler used slogans and made powerful speeches throughout his dictatorship that convinced the Germans to believe that the Jewish people really were a threat that Germany had to repel. By blaming their economical issues on the Jews, the Germans had more of a reason to desire the exeunt of their race entirely. Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole peoplePropaganda deeds on the general public from the standpoint of an idea and makes them ripe for the victory of this idea. Adolf Hitler wrote these words in his book Mein Kampf, in which he first advocated the use of propaganda to fiesta the ideals of National Socialism among them racism, antisemitism,. ( http//www. ushmm. org ) The novel also shows a pattern of dec eit, where Bruno is lied to by his parents when he asks what is behind the fence.Bruno also lies when he denies knowing Shmuel, an act of fear that resurfaces the idea that he is still a child with no desire to be punished. Deceit is a tendency that was believed to be necessary by the furor, Adolf Hitler, in order to proceed with the Final Solution while having his citizens and the rest of the world blind, as they believed his idea was only beneficial to Germany. Hitler and the Nazi Party would have not succeeded had they always been truthful to not only the people within their own borders, but the people outside of them too.It was necessary to deceit in order to succeed, or what he planned to be a success. In Brunos case, that same deceit provided him with the loyalty and love to Shmuel to be his friend until death. The accounted Jewish casualties that took place under the furor, Adolf Hitler and commander Heimrich Himmler are an approximate six million, completely exterminating th e trace of each and every Jewish family in Germany, for even those who survived left immediately after the Russians laid them free from the concentration camps in nineteen-forty-five.Survivors who have testimonies of their experience in the camps, the ghettos, and those who escaped still try to make sense of what happened in the twelve year tenacious battle for survival. Emotionally, they have wounds that will never fully heal over. Mentally, they withhold memories that could only be imagined as the most vivid of nightmares to those of us who didnt live through the terrorizing events. Spiritually, they are finally free to believe, if they can and most do. They speak of the Holocaust as a test from God, another reason to show their faith to the world.Eliezer Wiesel said in Night, That I survived the Holocaust and went on to love beautiful girls, to talk, to write and to have toast and tea and live my life that is what is abnormal. Evidently, families were lost and lives were sepa rated, an wound up devastation that one may never come to comprehend. In both of the works, family is demonstrated to be a significant factor. Elie, in Night, speaks fondly of the love for his father and the absolute loss of himself after the loss of his father. In The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Brunos mother reveals a love for her family so deep that she becomes despaired with the facts of her keep ups work. Shmuel sacrifices himself, at the side of his best friend, Bruno, to find his father and endanger his own life to save one of a family members. This was the case for each person who died and survived the Holocaust. If we bear all this suffering and if there are still Jews left, when it is over, then Jews, instead of being doomed, will be held up as an example. (Anne Frank)
